To meet the increasing population in the area, the two-story 82,000 square-foot elementary center was constructed and includes numerous classrooms, a library, offices, a gymnasium, a cafeteria and other support areas. The facility serves as a sanctuary and parish center until a new church is constructed.


  • Large portion of the steel structure utilizes exposed at the interior and exterior.
  • Unique exposed steel trusses were designed for the gymnasium and cafeteria area.
  • Facility located on a gradually sloping site, which creates an “walk-out” basement level.
  • Design team performed many revisions to actively keep project within construction budget and schedule.

The steel-framed and reinforced masonry bearing wall structure utilizes exterior exposed structural steel throughout the facility. The gymnasium and cafeteria roof structures utilizes exposed custom steel trusses with dove-tail acoustical deck. The classroom wing utilizes composite steel floor framing and deck along with steel roof framing and roof deck. A large portion of the classroom structure is expressed within the corridors and classrooms. Shallow foundations with reinforced masonry were utilized throughout the project.
