Renovation and alteration of several existing buildings, and the addition of new buildings for offices, galleries and utilities. The current design calls for renovating the existing historic original 1916 and Breuer Building, the addition of a new gallery building, and a central utility plant.
John Carroll University — Dolan Science Center
A three-story, 265,000-square-foot facility. The atrium serves as the centerpiece of the facility with a two-story reading room and 250-seat auditorium. At the center of the atrium is a 50' x 50' skylight, supported by bisecting arched trusses. Construction consisted of a steel-framed structure with framed concrete ground floor, above a 105-space parking garage. Mass damping hangers were utilized in the science laboratory wing of the building to minimize vibrations for the sensitive laboratory equipment.
Cleveland Clinic Foundation — Lerner Research Institute
The Lerner Research Institute is a 480,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research and education facility. The facility consists of three buildings, six stories high forming a U-shape. The facility is comprised of: a research wing, a biomedical engineering wing, and an education wing (which includes a library, offices, and lecture rooms). A pedestrian walkway links the open end of the Center; and additional walkways link with an existing parking garage and with the existing laboratory building adjacent to the Center.
