Ameritech 750 Huron Building - Facade Repair
Originally OBT Main Building

Cleveland, Ohio
Ameritech (formerly Ohio Bell Telephone Company)
$1,500,000.
1990

This 23-story building graces the City of Cleveland with its very pronounced green copper-clad top.  Other than that few-story copper cladding, the entire building is clad with limestone.  Its arched window and step-back lines give a solid, stable appearance.

In 1988, Barber & Hoffman, Inc. performed a complete inspection of the stone facade and prepared repair documents for a three-year phased construction program.  The three-year phasing allowed the owner to incorporate about one-third of the total project cost into its yearly budgets.

In agreement with Barber & Hoffman's recommendations, this construction-experienced owner realized the value of paying a small incremental increase for non-corrosive replacement support steel for this labor-intensive project, thus minimizing potential larger future repair expenses.
